Merriweather committed less than five days ago and Ross wrote up his original CIC piece here. You might remember that Merriweather didn't even have a Rivals page at first. On why Iowa would be going after someone who is so lightly recruited that they don't even have a Rivals page, Ross wrote:

At this point, 20 years into Phil Parker's time in Iowa City, the results speak for themselves. He's been consistently the best position coach Iowa has had under Kirk Ferentz and he's produced some top-tier defensive backs than we can count at this point. Bob Sanders, Sean Considine, Charles Godfrey, Bradley Fletcher, Amari Spievey, Micah Hyde, Desmond King, Josh Jackson, and so many more. So if Parker sees something he likes, well, we're certainly inclined to trust his judgement. Merriweather also seems like a prospect with a lot of potential upside -- he hasn't focused on football much in his career so far but has good athleticism and improved rapidly at Belleville last season.
