Iowa's hosting a big recruiting event in Iowa City this weekend, with over a dozen recruits making their official visits to campus. Several of those players have already made verbal commitments to Iowa -- and their ranks swelled by one on Saturday, as Iowa picked up a commitment from Jalen Hunt, a big defensive line target:

Hunt, a consensus 3* recruit out of Belleville, MI, chose Iowa over offers from Michigan State, Louisville, Missouri, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Boston College, Pitt, and a host of MAC schools. He's got pretty good size already at 6'2" and 245 lbs. His speed might be his most intriguing attribute, though. Just check out him in action in these highlights:
Hunt has played running back in addition to his duties on defense and you can see his speed at play in a few carries in that clip -- he gets into the open field and no one's touching him. On defense he shows a very quick first step, really good initial acceleration, and the ability to get past blockers with speed and power. His instincts look good, too, and he has a great nose for the football -- he looks like a heat-seeking missile seeking out the ballcarrier on a few of those tackles. Oh, and speaking of those tackles... he can hit like a damn truck. That poor running back at 1:20 gets erased completely out of the frame. See also: the running back at 3:00 and the quarterback at 3:15. Yeah, those are some skills we can work with.
Welcome to Iowa, Mr. Hunt.
