Castro has been in the fold with Iowa (as a verbal commit anyway) for a while, committing way back in the long ago time of April. Castro is being recruited for the defensive side of the ball and he shows great aptitude in one aspect of defense already: laying the lumber.
My goodness, does Castro like to use the hit stick. (If you want to see some highlights of Castro's other attributes, like his ballhawking ability or his skill as a return man, click here.) He might have to clean up his technique a little bit -- a few of those tackles rely more on big hits than on wrapping up -- but that can be fixed on the practice field. Between that tackling ability and his size (he's already 6'1", 198 lbs), he looks like a possible option to take over the hybrid safety-linebacker role that Amani Hooker created on the Iowa defense this year. His surest route to early playing time looks like special teams, though, particularly coverage units -- he looks like a heat-seeking missile on coverage duty in his highlights.
Welcome to Iowa, Sebastian.
