Iowa's class of 2021 grew yesterday with the commitment of Jaden Harrell, an inside linebacker from Urbandale, Iowa. The tweet:
I am excited to announce that I have committed to the University of Iowa.— Jaden Harrell (@jadenhH11) July 28, 2019
I would like to thank all of my coaches, teammates, friends and family that have helped me get to where I am!!@CoachSWallace @Coach_Niemann @HawkeyeFootball #swarm21 pic.twitter.com/AET6jg0GQU
A consensus 3-star recruit, Harrell's only other offer was from Nebraska, though he was also "receiving interest" from Iowa State, Kansas State, Notre Dame and North Dakota State. Of course, he's Class of 2021, so you shouldn't read too much into scholarship offers, nor should you glean anything from his scholarship offer from Nebraska, as those are currently mailed out along with Publisher's Clearing House.
Harrell visited Nebraska, Iowa State, Kansas State and NDSU all within the past couple of months but considering he'd visited Iowa three times since February and the final visit was yesterday, the writing was on the wall. Harrell is listed at 6'2", 215 lbs and as a sophomore he notched 67.5 total tackles, 8 TFL and 2.5 sacks. Here's your sweet sweet highlight film:
Saying nothing of the highlight film (which looks nice as, y'know, it's a highlight film), it's a positive for Seth Wallace and Jay Niemann to recruit the Des Moines metro early. Another fun note: Harrell expects to play some running back next fall.
Welcome aboard, Mr. Harrell.
