Yahya Black - Defensive Lineman
Hometown (High School): Marshall, MN (Marshall)
Measurements: 6'6", 250
247 Composite Ranking: 3-stars, 34th best strong side defensive end
Other Offers: Kansas State, Minnesota, Buffalo, more
From Have a Seat, Yahya Black:
Black is an intriguing addition to the mix along the defensive end. His wingspan is already incredibly disruptive (if nothing else, he should be able to make an immediate impact on block units on special teams) and he shows off some pretty solid quickness in his highlights.
AJ Lawson - Defensive Back
Hometown (High School): Decatur, IL (MacArthur)
Measurements: 6'1", 177
247 Composite Ranking: 3-stars,170th best wide receiver
Other Offers: Minnesota, Ball State, Kent State, Toledo, Western Michigan, more
From Have a Seat, AJ Lawson:
Lawson played wide receiver and defensive back at Decatur MacArthur High during his prep career but, per Rivals, Iowa is looking at him as a defensive back. While a lot of his highlights feature him as a receiver, I think there's enough DB highlights to see what made him attractive to Iowa on that side of the ball. He has solid speed, but really seems to have good hands and strong ball skills; his ability to high-point the ball and pluck it out of the air is particularly impressive. There are some encouraging signs re: his coverage skills and tackling ability as well. Several recent Iowa defensive backs have had exceptional ball skills, such as Desmond King and Josh Jackson, so it's clear that's an attribute Iowa looks for in defensive backs. Lawson looks like a very promising recruit in that aspect.
Isaiah Bruce - Defensive Lineman
Hometown (High School): Lena, IL (Lena-Winslow)
Measurements: 6'1", 270
247 Composite Ranking: 3-stars, 76th best defensive tackle
Other Offers: Northwestern
As Rivals notes, Bruce is a tremendously versatile athlete, playing football, basketball, and track in high school at Lena-Winslow High School. He's showed off that versatility on the football field as well, playing defensive end, tight end, wide receiver, and running back for his high school team. Despite that all-around ability, Iowa projects him as a defensive line prospect.
Reggie Bracy - Defensive Back
Hometown (High School): Mobile, AL (St. Paul's Episcopal)
Measurements: 6'0", 190
247 Composite Ranking: 3-stars, 60th best safety
Other Offers: Indiana, Air Force, SMU, Southern Miss, more
Bracy is a consensus 3-star recruit and the 67th best safety in the nation per 247 Sports. He’s a 5-star recruit in the name department, though, as Reginald is one of the fanciest names in Alabama. Bracy had only one other Power 5 offer in Indiana and a number of Group of Five offers including CMU, Navy, Southern Miss, Troy and UAB. He was recruited by running backs/offensive recruiting coordinator Derrick Foster, which may strike you as odd as Bracy is neither a running back (though he does play RB sporadically) nor an offensive player. That’s because Foster came from Samford, so he’s in the know when it comes to players from the Yellowhammer State.
