Hello everyone and welcome to SPREAD AWARENESS: FOOTBALL EDITION! A lot of haters said we should retire and not be allowed back after what happened during basketball season, but those people are dumb. Football is where we thrive. For the last three years, we have been writing the MAC TEN COLOR RUSH newsletter where we would make gambling picks on #MACtion, the Big Ten, and Thursday Night NFL Color Rush games. Now, the fine readers of GIA get EXCLUSIVE access to all of our winners. Lucky you!

Here is the deal, every week we will be giving you #WINNERS for every Iowa game along with however many more Big Ten games we feel good about. We will also throw in some random picks that are guaranteed winners. Good luck, friends.

#18 Michigan State -23.5 vs Tulsa (6:00 PM CST, FS1)

Honest question, can Michigan State even score 23 points against Tulsa? This is a team that closed out last year by scoring a combined 26 points against Nebraska, Rutgers, and Oregon. This game will not go over 47.5 points, hell, it might not go over 7.5.

  • PICK: UNDER 48

#19 Wisconsin -10.5 @ South Florida (6:00 PM CST, ESPN)

Does Wisconsin have a competent QB yet? I doubt it. Luckily for them, they still have Jonathan Taylor. USF closed out last season by losing six games in a row, and none of them were particularly close. The Badgers and their grown man football should have no problem with Charlie Strong and the Bulls. Taylor goes for 200+ yards, scores 3 TDs, and Wisconsin rolls.

Rutgers -15.5 vs UMass (6:15 PM CST, BTN)

We are not actually betting on this game, we are just using this as a reminder to never bet on anything Rutgers-related. However, if you are seriously considering betting on Rutgers vs UMass, click HERE for the most in-depth breakdown on the internet.

Nebraska -36 vs South Alabama (11:00 AM CST, ESPN)

Are the Huskers back?? Probably not, but that isn’t stopping the entire state of Nebraska from preparing for a national championship celebration. They open up the season as 36-point favorites over South Alabama. I am not going to do the research, because that is a lot of work, but I assume this is the first time a team has ever gone 4-8 in back to back years and opened the season as this big of a favorite. I don’t see the Huskers covering here. Since 2015, they have won exactly one game by more than 36 points. They have lost 4 games by more than 36, including one to Iowa, but that is beside the point. Anyway, South Alabama stinks, Huskers probably win by 28 and jump into the top 10.

Illinois -18 vs Akron (11:00 AM CST, BTN)

What is this line? Have people not heard about the powers of the Akron Zips and their future Heisman winning QB Kato Nelson??? People forget that the Zips beat Northwestern last year, and they would have beaten Nebraska as well if the Huskers hadn’t refused to play because of a little lightning. Sad! Akron didn’t finish the year strong but they have a new coach, a quarterback who is a god like twice a year, and get to play an Illinois team that is worse than 90% of the MAC. Akron wins!

  • PICK: AKRON +18

Ohio State -27.5 vs Florida Atlantic (11:00 AM CST, FOX)

If you are looking for points this weekend, this might be the game for you. Ohio State averaged 42.4 PPG last season while FAU averaged 31.1. With a new head coach and QB, I expect Ohio State to try to score a million points. As for FAU…I don’t know? Lane Kiffin is their coach so that’s kind of cool?

  • PICK: OVER 63.5

Northwestern +6.5 @ Stanford (3:00 PM CST, FOX)

Originally this looked like an easy pick, after last season it seemed pretty clear that Northwestern does not care about non-conference games. I was ready to pick Stanford until I found a shocking stat…Northwestern is 12-1 ATS since 2015 when they are a road underdog and 9-0 as a road underdog since 2016! I think we just found some #FREEMONEY.

Iowa -22 vs Miami (OH) (6:30 PM CST, FS1)

Iowa opens up the season against the mighty Miami (Ohio) Redhawks. Most of you might not know this, but along with being the greatest gambling expert in the Big Ten, I am also addicted to MACtion. I am so addicted to #MACtion that I missed my own son’s birthday party because I bet on the Ohio vs Buffalo game last year. With that in mind, let me tell you, Miami isn’t one to be trifled with. They finished second in the MAC East last year, a division many said was the toughest in all of college football. Add that in with the fact that Iowa hasn’t exactly been a MAC wrecker the last few years, going 4-2 since 2012, and then remember that we had TWO tight ends drafted in the first round and OMG ARE WE GOING TO LOSE?????

No. It might take a while for Iowa to get going, but by the end of the game they will be up by more than 22 and we will all be happy. Also, we are taking OVER 7.5 total wins for Iowa this season, because that is just easy money.

  • PICK: IOWA -22

I like to give out a parlay whenever I am seeing the board well, and it is crystal clear right now. These four games are GUARANTEED winners. If they don’t hit I will personally apologize (via the internet) to each and every one of you.
