Dark times have fallen upon the Spread Awareness Kingdom. The Summer Gambling Harvest failed to yield the return necessary to sustain our poor habits and now our children grow hungry as the cold season approaches. The elders have met following our third losing week in a row and have decided that radical changes must be made, therefore, if we do not have a winning record this week our the empire will be handed to our evil stepbrother, Spread Ignorance. Nobody wants that, so here are some GUARANTEED WINNERS!
BIG TEN LOCKS OF THE WEEK
#12 Penn State -6.5 @ Maryland (FRIDAY, 7:00 PM CST FS1)
Friday is my birthday, meaning this is the SEPTEMBER 27TH BIRTHDAY LOCK OF THE YEAR! I have never lost one of these. Maryland started out the year looking like they had the greatest offense in the history of football, then they played Temple and everything fell apart. Was this a fluke? Did they just get caught looking ahead to Penn State? Nope! Maryland is 2-39-1 all-time against PSU for a reason (the reason is they are bad at football).
PICK: Penn State -6.5
#14 Iowa -23.5 vs Middle Tennessee State (11:00 AM CST, ESPN2)
Some might call this a trap game for the Hawkeyes with Michigan waiting next week, but the only TRAP I see is the one gamblers are going to fall into when they think Iowa won’t cover! MTSU lost to Duke by 33 and Michigan by 19, and their coach thinks Nate Stanley is basically Kyler Murray. We got this, don’t worry. The most interesting part of the game will probably involve the Iowa band and if they decide to show up after the shitshow that took place this week.
PICK: Iowa -23.5
#8 Wisconsin -24 vs Northwestern (11:00 AM CST, ABC)
Wisconsin is a bully, and I don’t think there is really anyone in the division that can do anything about it. I would assume all of the Wisconsin players are tired after giving Michigan super wedgies for 4 hours straight last Saturday, so maybe they won’t win by a million this week? Their opponent, Northwestern, has an even worse offense than Michigan State, which is alarming. I could 100% see them being shutout. Both of those things make me lean towards taking the under, therefore we are taking the OVER.
Pick: OVER 46.5
Indiana +14 @ #25 Michigan State (2:30 PM CST, BTN)
Ughhhh, I am starting to think making #MSUnders the official hashtag of Spread Awareness was a terrible mistake. Let’s hope we get back on track this week before we are forced to cancel #MSUnders without even reaching the halfway point of the season.
PICK: UNDER 45
#5 Ohio State -17.5 at Nebraska (7:00 PM CST, ABC)
This one could get ugly, I’m just not sure who it will get ugly for. Yes, Ohio State is 1,000,000 times better than Nebraska, but the Buckeyes have developed a weird habit of getting blown out by inferior teams, mainly during road night games. There was the 2017 Iowa game where they came in ranked #5 and got stomped 55-24 (LOL), and there was last year when they were ranked #3 and lost 49-20 to a very average Purdue team. Nebraska is very average, could they upset Ohio State??? Not likely, the last time Nebraska played in a primetime game and didn’t get their doors blown off you couldn’t be on the phone and the internet at the same time. I think Ohio State dominates this game but Nebraska scores a few late TDs to cover, giving them a nice moral victory that will probably get them back into the top 25 because SCOTT FROST!!!
PICK: Nebraska +17.5
