Well, last week was tough. We went 5-5. Iowa lost to Purdue and I think we could be bad???? A lot of other football-related things happened but let’s just focus on the big news real quick. Earlier this week Wisconsin canceled its game with Nebraska due to positive COVID tests, and of course, Nebraska had to cry about it because not even a global pandemic with hundreds of thousands of people dying can stop them from doing that.

Seriously, cry me a river, Nebraska. Oh, you can’t play a game against Wisconsin or Tennessee Chattanooga this week because the mean old bullies that run the Big Ten won’t let you? TOUGH SHIT. I WAS A GOOD PERSON LAST WEEK AND SAID SOMETHING NICE ABOUT EVERY SINGLE BIG TEN TEAM, AND STILL, DIDN’T HAVE A WINNING RECORD. THAT IS SOMETHING WORTH COMPLAINING ABOUT. There are people out there that ACTUALLY BELIEVE Wisconsin is making up their COVID numbers because they are scared of Nebraska. Uhh, what? The only thing scary about Nebraska football is the fact that their coach hates wearing a mask more than he hates his players wearing hoodies.

OK, enough venting. Time to dig deep and find some BIG B1G TEN Winners. I absolutely LOVE the board and I cannot believe how much #FREEMONEY is waiting for us.

Scott Frost and Simple Plan were made for each other.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS B1G TEN HIGH SCHOOL GAME OF THE WEEK

Minnesota -19.5 @ Maryland (6:30 PM CST, ESPN)

Maryland lost 43-3 to Northwestern last week and now we have to ask the question, have they officially dethroned Rutgers as the worst team in the Big Ten?? Things aren’t going to get any easier this week, as Minnesota is coming off of a rough game against Michigan. PJ Fleck is going to be looking to take his frustrations out on someone. Look for the Gophers to row their way to a big enough lead by halftime that we can all turn off the game and enjoy our Friday nights.

Pick: MINNESOTA -19.5

SUPER SPOOKY BIG TEN HALLOWEEN PICKS OF THE WEEK

#13 Michigan -24.5 vs Michigan State

#MSUnders is officially dead after one week, a new record! Mel Tucker started off his Big Ten coaching career with a loss to Rutgers (yikes) and now gets to play Michigan (double yikes). I think this spread might be a little bit of an overreaction based on both of these teams’ games last week. Michigan State had 24 turnovers, and Michigan beat a Minnesota team that apparently had a bunch of guys sitting out due to COVID. I like Michigan State to cover here as long as they can just not turn the ball over every time they get it.

PICK: MICHIGAN STATE +24.5 & OVER 52.5

Purdue -7 vs Illinois (11:00 AM CST, BTN)

Purdue beat Iowa last week without their best player or their coach. I don’t know if either is back for this week but it doesn’t really matter, Illinois is a dumpster fire.

PICK: PURDUE -7, UNDER 58.5

**UPDATE** Apparently Illinois has a bunch of players testing positive and this game may be cancelled. Things are going great in the Big Ten.

#9 WISCONSIN -14 @ NEBRASKA (CANCELLED)
TENNESSEE CHATANOOGA -3.5 @ NEBRASKA (ALSO CANCELLED)

Both of these games got canceled so I reached out to my Lincoln, Nebraska friend Remington Osborne Crouch Frost III for comment:

“OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE WISCONSIN IS FAKING THEIR COVID NUMBERS SO THAT THEY DON’T HAVE TO PLAY NEBRASKA? THEY ARE SCARED OF THE HUSKERS, AND WHO WOULDN’T BE?? WE WOULD HAVE BEAT THE SUCKEYES LAST WEEK IF THE REFS HADN’T BEEN PAID OFF. AND NOW THEY WON’T LET US PLAY TENNESEE CHATANOOGA BECAUSE THEY ARE SCARED THAT ONCE WE GET THE TASTE OF WINNING WE WILL NEVER LOSE AGAIN. KEVIN WARREN? MORE LIKE KEVIN WAR ON NEBRASKA. THEY HATE US CUZ THEY AINT US. HEY KEVIN MORAN, HOW DO WE GET BACK INTO THE BIG 12? GO BIG RED. #SCOFRO.”

#17 Indiana -11 @ Rutgers (2:30 PM CST, FS1)

HOOSIERS!!!!! I don’t know if Indiana actually won last week, and they tried their hardest to lose, but dammit, the record book says they won so congrats to them. I think I am becoming an Indiana fan? I mean, look at this video:

That is awesome.

On the other hand, Rutgers comes in after a HUGE win over Michigan State. It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win and at Rutgers, those are very hard to come by. Unfortunately, I don’t think they have a chance this week as Indiana probably won't turn it over 7 times.

PICK: HOOSIERS -6.5 1st HALF, HOOSIERS -11 GAME

Iowa -2.5 vs Northwestern (2:30 PM CST, ESPN)

Listen, there are a lot of things you can take away from that week 1 debacle vs Purdue, but three things really stuck out to me.

#1 – I think we have to bench Spencer Petras and never let him play again? I am sure he is a super nice guy and a great human, but as soon as I saw him warming up, I knew we were screwed. Like, did they just grab a random jersey from storage and put it on him? It's 2020, the only QB that can wear a jersey with loose sleeves is Ben Roethlisberger. Petras has ZERO swag, and in the year 2020 having swag is 80% of being a good QB. When I close my eyes and imagine a QB, I like to envision that person holding a Championship trophy above their head celebrating. When I close my eyes and try to imagine Spencer Petras doing that, all I see is a gas station clerk standing behind the counter asking if I said SKOAL wintergreen pouches or long cut. I will give him one more week, but he has a BIG hill to climb.

#2: GIVE THE DAMN BALL TO TYLER GOODSON, IT IS NOT F^($!%$ ROCKET SCIENCE.

#3: Iowa has not scored a touchdown in the second half of its last four Big Ten games. This is an issue that they need to fix. You are welcome for the analysis.

Pick: CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE

Choice 1: Iowa gives the ball to Tyler Goodson 20+ times, he scores two touchdowns, has 100+ yards rushing, and Iowa wins! YOUR PICK: IOWA -2.5

Choice 2: Iowa follows their Purdue game plan, fumbles a lot, doesn’t give the ball to Tyler Goodson, and Spencer Petras breaks all of his receiver's hands. YOUR PICK: NORTHWESTERN +2.5

Choice 3: Iowa dominates the first half and then scores 0 points in the second half to lose an extraordinarily boring game. YOUR PICK: UNDER 46.5

#3 Ohio State -11.5 @ #13 Penn State (6:30 PM CST, ABC)

Ohio State started off their 2020 season like they would any other season, beating up on a lowly, un-athletic team that had no business being on the same field as them. Granted, it was Nebraska this year and not Bowling Green, but the level of competition is the same. They looked shaky in a few areas, but Justin Fields might be unstoppable and I can’t imagine anyone in the Big Ten will be able to slow their offense down.

Penn State lost (maybe?????) to Indiana in a chaotic game. Some may say they actually won this game, but no matter what the final score was, they didn’t deserve to win anyway. They trailed most of the game and only had a chance to win due to Indiana being kind of stupid. I don’t think Ohio State will give them a chance to come back this week.

Pick: Ohio State -12

YTD Record: 18-13

ATS: 13-10

O/U: 5-3
