Is it just me or does Lee look significantly smaller than some opponents, notably Piccinnini?

Picc is a pretty huge 125er. Lee is probably on the smaller side for the weight.

133 will be a grind. I’m most excited for the results of that weight.

If Lee and Marinelli both win titles that would be amazing. One wonders what might have been with a healthy Stoll and Kemerer. Maybe not enough to dethrone PSU but enough to put a scare into them.

Missed this, although it's just a different face for Spencer Lee to maul in R1

He tech'd West 17-0 at Midlands this year.

I believe Spencer's path, similar to last year, has to involve some shorter matches in the first three rounds. If he can go into the semis and final with a full tank he should be able to best both Picc and Rivera.  To me it doesn't seem likely that he would get caught in a cradle (Picc) again or lose a third match (Rivera).

I like Young's path to the quarters as well and Murin would be a total surprise if he makes it that far.  ADS is the wild card.  If he finds himself in the semis, that would be awesome.

Thanks Ross for the insight and look forward to the big weights.

(RE: Spencer)

Does he though?

He's going to have roughly seven hours between matches tomorrow, and roughly nine hours between the quarter's and semi's on Friday.

I really don't know what major effect this scheduling set-up has on a guy's tourney-long gas tank unless you fall into the consolations. Beyond that you've got tons of time to rest and recover between matches, especially for someone Spencer's size who doesn't exactly have some major weight cut to manage.

I could be wrong of course, but I'd love to hear from any former wrestlers as to what, if any adverse effects there typically are given that long of a break between matches. From a layman's perspective I don't really see it being that big of a differentiator so long as you keep winning, though obviously, yes, it's always technically more 'refreshing' if you should only wrestle for 4-5 minutes to get a win as opposed to seven.

New phone, who dis?

You Are correct, shorter matches boost your confidence in that you haven't wrestled a full 21 or 28 minutes (wherever you are at in the tourney). But, these guys are so well conditioned that its mostly mental at this time of the year.
