All off-season, I was thinking that it was odd that the person(s) most often mentioned as the replacement for Hooker at the "Star/Cash" spot were CBs, rather than a safety like Hooker had been. To me at least, as uniformed as I am, using a safety seemed to make more sense as they would presumably be a bit bigger and thus closer to the LB body size than a CB, if, however, giving up a little speed relative to a CB, but still being faster than your typical LB. So seeing that Belton might be a possibility makes a lot of sense. What is most surprising, again at least to me, is that Dallas Craddieth doesn't seem to be in the conversation for any safety/Cash position at all. Recruiting rankings are what they are and aren't gospel, but still to see a guy that highly-touted not being anywhere near the playing field at this point and with Iowa's current depth issues is surprising.
Just another garbage commenter spreading my *sshole all over the internet.
Is that a G-town or Iowa uniform you have on? (mandatory GIA snark)
I head Craddieth may be injured, curious if anyone has any insights.

I don't know if his skill set translates, but now that Koerner is doing well at safety, could Merriweather come back and play the Cash spot?

"He certainly has a talented leg..."
“He certainly has a talented (third) leg.”
no more yankey Chuck's wankey
Better be careful, that's what got Wegher into trouble as I recall
Well that’s a +1
I spent half my life's earnings on wine, women, and song. The other half I wasted.
It was for Wegher, too
God I was hoping you’d spike the shit out of that set. Well done.
So who's leg are they talking about? Duncan? Sleep-Dalton? The Rutgers guy who will hopefully transfer to us next year?
Sleep-Dalton, although all of those men have very talented legs.
And that's all well and good, but if Brian is running the clock and playcalls, what exactly is Kirk responsible for doing?
KF is responsible for chewing the gum and providing anecdotes about Dallas Clark and 1970s Pitt teams. Duh.
After spending years being bullied by the big ten, I decided to become the bully and go after Iowa basketball players. I also have no concept of what is real and what is fantasy, as demonstrated by my belief that I could coach.
The notecard isn't gonna scribble on itself.
I never wanted to Fire Ferentz. Good bye and good luck, Gary.
He'll also chip ice, when the weather turns.
Brian also fell on his sword for the boneheaded playcall on third down of the final series in Ames, when Iowa ran a tight end out on third down, going out of bounds short of the line to gain and stopping the clock.
I guess this answers that question. If so, I, random internet commenter, stand corrected. My apologies to the players. Brian is apparently the moron responsible for that debacle.
Pig shit you say? Smells like $7 Billion to me.
Also, fire Gary Barta.
It was a combination. Brian shouldn't have called that pass to the short side of the field. (I was fine with going for a high completion percentage pass, but not to the short side of the field.) Wieting (I think it was Wieting?) should have also made absolutely sure he went down in bounds. It was the combination of two minor screw-ups that created a major one.
I find it refreshing to see a coach take the blame in disproportionate measures to his players, which Brian is doing here. That is vastly preferable than always blaming execution for everything.
Agreed. I have issues with some of Brian's other answers, but it was nice to see him taking the fall for that one, as well as the end-of-half miscues vs buttgers and ISU (where I think the coaches were partly to blame, but some responsibility should go the players, Stanley in particular, to be more situation-ally aware)
Writing tried to stay in bounds but was pushed. What would have been better is if Stanley just took the sack
I hope the reporter that asked the question about Oliver Martin has somebody else starting his car and tasting his food for him the next few weeks. Is Brian Ferentz gonna have to choke a bitch?
I believe the question came from Chad or the commish himself, mark emmert
"We've just gotta play them one game at a time"
"I'm just happy to be here, hope I can help the ball club"
"I just want to give it my best shot and the good Lord willing things will work out."
"Never fuck with a winning streak"
So is Jackson anywhere near coming back to his tackle spot?
Punting is a bold strategy, let's see if it pays off for them.
Sounds like there's a chance he could be back for MTSU next week.
If he does, I hope it's limited play. Get him back up to game speed, but don't push him too hard the week before the gauntlet starts.
