Its interesting if you keep an eye on how teams are scheming to defend against him. Most RBs that stay in the backfield are looking only for him. Iowa has been moving him around some this year, and you can tell that it has an effect on his production. In a few of those plays above you can tell the RB is trying to find 94 but doesn't know where he is until its too late. I really like moving Daviyon to DE and sliding AJE inside to DT.

I know A.J. has gotten some flak on his lack of sacks this year, but the fact that he has so many QB disruptions says a lot. Agree with DC above. He’s been targeted a lot and has still been effective. I hope he plays next year. (He should do what’s best for him, though).

I second my colleagues above. Its really great to see the defensive staff scheming to get him in position to make plays, especially with his numbers being down early in the year with offenses keying on him.
Another thing teams are doing is faking pitches his way to try and slow him down, and RBs will run a lot of rub routes out of backfield. Anything to try and slow him down one step or make him hesitate. Teams' entire game plans are built around trying to not let him beat their offense. Amazing to watch.
"Everybody got distracted by last week's game. Last week's game doesn't mean crap. It's what you do today." — Kirk Ferentz
Good observation. It does seem that teams are game planning pretty much their entire offense away from AJE.
It seems like Iowa's defense will have some good pieces back next year, but losing AJE is going to make it dramatically different.
but the game was meaningless so who cares
no more yankey Chuck's wankey
That last drive was simply unfair. The back up, true freshman QB asked to come in and put together a 2 minute, one time out, TD drive? The chances of success were minimal to start. Then to have the defense throwing "LOOK OUT!!!" blocks on AJE, He might need some therapy after that intro to college football.
Punting is a bold strategy, let's see if it pays off for them.
To be fair, the backup wasn't asked to come in until after the "drive" was pretty much dead in the water.
Time to dial up the pressure again against Illinois.
Well deserved award. Sacks are great, but his strength this year has been disruption.
I have this feeling that AJ will be revved up to play the Illini this week. Let's hope he lines up all over the place and has a five star game. Chase Young who?
No comment on Chase Young as a person, I simply don't have enough knowledge to offer an informed opinion - I would take him on Iowa's team any day as a player.
