Jake Karchinski is a 2019 6'5" 245# athlete from De Pere, Wisconsin. The West De Pere Phantoms play in Wisconsin's second largest conference. He's athletic enough to have played LB and DE, and also plays forward for the basketball team and competes in shot put and discus on the track team. He has offers from a large collection of MAC/mid-major schools and high-end FCS teams as well as Syracuse, and has drawn interest (but as-of-yet no offer) from Wisconsin. And yesterday he picked up an offer from KF&Co, and tweeted his excitement with the usual collection of pictures and thanks and baby chick emoji. But then...
It was promptly deleted, but not before people caught screenshots of it.
The tweet would be potentially a NCAA violation because coaching staffs aren't allowed to comment publicly on individual recruits until after they have signed a binding national letter of intent.
Best/worst part? Coach Hofher @'d Karchinski with this snub. Reading between the lines, I would guess that this was the defensive reaction to Iowa offering someone that ISU didn't already have on their radar, perhaps meant as a DM to recruitniks. With a 267-strong offer list, Iowa State not having offered a kid is a rarity. But the facts remain: the sky is blue, water is wet, and Team Out East State continues to be a Mickey Mouse outfit.
