And just like that, the 2020 college football regular season is over. It was definitely... a college football season. A very weird, very unpredictable, very bizarre season, but a season nonetheless, albeit one that was much shorter than normal for schools in several leagues, like the Big Ten, Pac-12, or MAC.
Here's the final Top 10 (and ties) of the season:
Congratulations to Smokinthereiff on his victory this season. He was two games back of the leader heading into the final season, but roared into first place (by two games) thanks to a 9-4 mark in this week's games. Well done -- that's certainly finishing strong. Go ahead and email me ([email protected]) so we can set you up with a prize for proving your picking prowess this season.
Kudos to John Hawktoasten and IowaHawkGuy as well, who finished two games back, but were near the top of the leaderboard all season. You both acquitted yourselves very well all year long. There was also a quintet of pickers -- GPoints, Costco Card Rammin Greg D, John Clark, IC_Brewed, and whuelberth -- who finished four games back of the leader, but were on his heels for much of the season. Well done to you folks as well. And thanks to everyone who participated and made picks during this deeply weird season.
I also set up the Bowl Pick Em contest for this year, also through FunOfficePools. If you've played one of the GIA Pick Em games thru FunOfficePools previously, you should have received an email invitation to join the Bowl Pick Em contest for this year. But you can also join up here.
GROUP: 2020 Go Iowa Awesome Football Bowl Pick
Just like the regular season game, picks in the Bowl Pick Em will be against the spread. So keep that in mind as you make your selections. So you're not really picking whether or not you think BYU will beat UCF -- you're picking whether or not you think BYU will beat UCF by 7 points or more. If you think they will, pick BYU. If you think the margin of victory will be closer (or that UCF will win), pick UCF.
The games all have a rolling lock, which means that each game pick can be changed up until kickoff of that particular game. The first bowl game is actually tomorrow (!), with Appalachian State taking on North Texas in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. But if you don't get your picks made before that game starts, don't fret -- you'll just miss out on being able to pick that game, but you'll still be able to pick all of the remaining bowl games.
If you've got any questions or concerns, let me know. Good luck and good picks to all!
