Outside of the games themselves, the best thing BTN airs is unquestionably The Journey, their weekly show spotlighting the histories and backstories of players around the league. And we especially like The Journey when it focuses on Iowa players, as it's done a few times recently.
First up was Joe Wieskamp, Iowa's freshman phenom, a few weeks ago. This story focuses on Wieskamp's upbringing in Muscatine (home of the best sunsets in the world, according to Mark Twain), his incredible high school career, his decision to commit to Iowa at a young age, and highlights some of his early performances this year (including his big showing in Iowa's road win over Northwestern). It concludes with Iowa's home loss against Michigan State, so, uh, maybe don't watch the last minute or so.
Then this past Sunday they had an episode that featured Jordan Bohannon. In a piece of scheduling kismet, it aired directly after Iowa's win over Northwestern, featuring Jordan Bohannon's game-winning last-second three-pointer. JBO KNOWS SYNERGY.
This feature focuses on Bohannon's upbringing as the youngest of Gordy Bohannon's four sons and his decision to play at Iowa. It also hits on his free throw streak last year and his intentional miss against Northwestern to ensure that Chris Street's record was only tied and not broken. It also covers his brother Zach's incredible streak of attending every single game of Jordan's Iowa career so far before finishing up with some highlights and post-game reaction from Jordan's sizzling performance in Iowa's road win over Indiana.
