Iowa released its 2019-20 hoops schedule a few weeks ago, but that schedule was lacking in tipoff and TV information. That information has been released now (mostly), so let's talk about it for a minute. (As a reminder, you can always find current hoops schedule information here.)

  • Maybe the best news from this TV/tipoff information is the reveal that Iowa will only have two games on the BTN+ service this year -- and one of those is the season-opening exhibition game. Iowa has tended to have a handful of games on BTN+ in years past, so it's a welcome change that Iowa fans won't need to shell out for that service in order to watch as much as 1/3 of Iowa's non-conference games.

  • Speaking of that exhibition game... if you (like me) were wondering who the heck Lindsey Wilson is, it would be Lindsey Wilson College, an NAIA school in Kentucky affiliated with the United Methodist Church. They went 16-15 last year. Remember that time Iowa lost an exhibition game to a (very good) Division II team? Probably not gonna be an issue this year.

  • Make sure your cable provider (or equivalent service, if you're a cord-cutter) offers FS1 and BTN, because 24 of Iowa's 31 games are scheduled to be on one of those two networks. The majority of Iowa games being on BTN is nothing new -- that's been the norm since the channel began back in 2007 -- but Iowa will have an increased presence on FS1 this year -- right now 8 games are scheduled to be on that channel.

  • Iowa is currently only scheduled to be on an ESPN channel four times -- Big Ten games with Ohio State and Michigan State, a non-conference game versus Kennesaw State on ESPNU, and whichever ESPN channel ends up airing Iowa's game with Syracuse in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

  • Three Iowa games currently have no TV network listed -- Syracuse, Iowa State, and Cincinnati. The 'Cuse game will air on one of the ESPNs, as noted above. The ISU game is in Ames, so their TV contracts will control that game; odds are it will end up on either FS1 or one of the ESPNs. The Cincinnati game is a neutral site game, but odds are pretty good it will end up being aired by an ESPN channel or a Fox channel.

  • As a non-local, I'm mostly agnostic when it comes to start times, but it didn't seem like Iowa got a great draw or a particularly bad draw from the Delanybot 9000. The lack of Saturday afternoon home games is disappointing (just one, a 5 PM tip against Nebraska on 2/8/20) and sticking two of Iowa's most enticing league home games on Friday nights (1/10/20 against Maryland, 1/7/20 against Michigan) doesn't seem ideal. But it doesn't seem like there are too many notably late (or early) tipoffs for the home games.
