These days, football posters are usually designed to convey intimidation, camaraderie, or C.J. Beathard with bird wings. Gone is the time when the football poster portrayed a football team in a mock court situation where the school’s greatest football coach of all time presided over the oral arguments of fully uniformed football players. Fortunately, the University of Arkansas reminded of us that simpler and beautiful time.
In breaking down the latest Arkansas Football poster, the Razorbacks flashed back to the 1992 Iowa Football poster, which featured Bret Bielema making oral arguments to Judge Hayden Fry. His argument? Defense:
Just. Look. At. That. Poster. (Click to embiggen)
There’s so much going on here.
Jim Hartlieb looks like he's going to throw a ball at Hayden Fry's head. Hayden Fry hasn't even written anything down but he's presumably lecturing everyone on how awesome sweaters over collared shirts are. Look at #60 Mike Devlin's mullet. Marvin Lampkin, Lew Montgomery and Carlos James are sitting at a table with a binder labeled "Exotics." God bless Hayden and his exotics.
Plus #3 Danan Hughes chilling off to the left.
Oh, and it's titled "Out for Justice" just a year after the immortal Steven Seagal cinematic classic* Out for Justice was released? Coincidence? WE THINK NOT.
*Your mileage may vary, of course.
