The Kinnick Wave sure gets around. It didn't win the Laureus Sports Award's Best Sporting Moment award handed out last week (that went to the Brazilian soccer team Chapecoense for their response to the tragic plane crash that killed most of the team in 2016), but it turned up in an unlikely place: the music video for Carrie Underwood and Ludacris' new song, "The Champion."
(skip ahead to around 2:15 for the Kinnick Wave footage)
The themes of the video revolves around inspiration and overcoming adversity; the Kinnick Wave is certainly a good fit for that. There's a host of sports figures and sports images or highlights in the video as well -- give it a watch.
Our favorite Hawkeye-football related music video remains "Oh!" by Girls Generation (read here if you don't remember that wonderful story), but this might be number two on that list. Now if it had Carrie Underwood dancing with an Iowa helmet or Luda rocking the tigerhawk... But seriously: it's wonderful to see the Kinnick Wave continuing to get publicity and recognition.
