The Oakland Raiders are bad at football. Correction: the Oakland Raiders are very, very bad at football. So I was looking forward to seeing what former Iowa stars C.J. Beathard and George Kittle could do against the horribawful Raiders during Thursday Night Football. Beathard had to miss the game due to an injury, but Kittle... did not disappoint.
I mean, just look at this freaking catch:
My word. That is simply incredible. Great concentration, great job hauling the pass in with one hand, and then a great job just turning on the jets. Seriously, let's watch that grab again:
Yeah, that's a hell of a catch. Kittle got hauled down just shy of the end zone, but happily the 49ers let him finish off the drive:
You gotta let a guy get the touchdown after he makes a play like that to set you up for the score.
FUN FACT: Kittle had more receiving yards on that 71-yard reception than he did in all but one entire game during his Iowa career.
Hm. That fact might not be so fun after all...
Kittle finished with four receptions for 108 yards and a touchdown. It's the second time this season that he's had over 100 receiving yards (and the fourth time in nine games that he's had at least 90 receiving yards). At the moment, Kittle leads all NFL tight ends in receiving yards with 692. Keep balling out, George.
