There are a thousand stories that Iowa fans could tell one another about the night of November 8th, 2008. Adam wrote an excellent piece about it back in 2017 and there's not a tremendous need to rehash what a brilliant performance the put together that night against an undefeated Penn State team. Just remember that Iowa was down two points with six seconds left on the clock. Daniel Murray, #1 on the field and in our hearts, had lost the starting job to Trent Mossbrucker. Yet, it was Murray who Kirk Ferentz called upon to kick the 31-yard game winning field goal. Check it:
It would be the highlight of Murray's career. Only a sophomore, he'd fight injury and inconsistency the remainder of his time in an Iowa uniform. But that beautiful November night, that he kicked the shit out of that ball and sent Daryll Clark & Co. packing, their hopes of a national championship dashed.
