Let's dance! The bracket for the 2019 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament is out and now we know who and when Iowa is playing, as well as official confirmation of where their opening round game(s) will be (Iowa City, of course). Iowa's a 2-seed (the best seed Iowa has received during Lisa Bluder's tenure at Iowa) in the Greensboro region and will host 15-seed Mercer in the first round on Friday (1 PM CT, ESPN2). Hooray!

The other teams in Iowa's pod are 7-seed Missouri and 10-seed Drake; the winners of the Iowa-Mercer and Missouri-Drake games will play on Sunday (time TBD). All games in that pod will be played at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
The other teams in Iowa's half of the bracket are 3-seed NC State, 6-seed Kentucky, 11-seed Princeton, and 14-seed Maine. If Iowa beats Mercer and either Missouri or Drake, they'll play one of those teams in the advance to the Sweet 16 in Greensboro, NC. (Very cool and not at all annoying that the 2-seed could play the 3-seed in a game an hour and a half away from the 3-seed's campus.)

The 1-seed in Iowa's bracket is Baylor, who also happens to be the overall #1 seed in the entire bracket. (SPOILER: they're very good.) The Bears would obviously pose a huge challenge to Iowa in a hypothetical Elite 8 game, but frankly, we're going to be pretty jazzed no matter what if Iowa is able to win three games and make it to their first Elite 8 game since 1993. We'll worry about how daunting a match-up with Baylor might be when and if Iowa gets to that point.
