After a dominating dual meet win to start the season, Iowa wrestling heads east for a weekend of action in the New York area. First up: Army (1-1) at Christl Arena in West Point, NY on Thursday night.

This is the return trip of a home-and-home series that was generated very suddenly last year. Iowa was supposed to wrestle Oregon State in a home dual, but bad weather prevented Oregon State from making it to Iowa City. Fortunately, Army happened to be in the area (to wrestle Iowa State) and agreed to zip over to Iowa City to wrestle a dual meet with Iowa a day after the Oregon State dual was scheduled to take place. Iowa rolled in that dual, 36-7, but there was a great deal of appreciation for Army's willingness to step in and wrestle Iowa on short notice. Tom Brands said that Iowa would head out to Army for a dual in return and, obviously, he wasted no time in doing so.

125 Aidan Harris (JR, 0-1) vs #24 Ethan Berginc (FR, 7-0)
133 #12 Brody Teske (JR, 1-0)
Cullan Schriever (SO, 0-0)
vs Richard Treanor (SO, 5-3)
141 Drew Bennett (SR, 1-0) vs Julian Sanchez (JR, 2-2)
149 #7 Max Murin (SR, 1-0) vs Matthew Williams (JR, 3-4)
157 Caleb Rathjen (RS FR, 0-0)
Cobe Siebrecht (JR, 1-0)
vs #28 Nate Lukez (JR, 5-2)
165 #13 Patrick Kennedy (SO, 1-0) vs #28 Dalton Harkins (SO, 5-1)
174 Drake Rhodes (FR, 1-0) vs #21 Ben Pasiuk (JR, 4-1)
184 #8 Abe Assad (JR, 1-0) vs Sahm Abullrazzaq (SR, 6-2)
197 #2 Jacob Warner (SR, 1-0) vs Kyle Swartz (SO, 5-3)
285 #4 Tony Cassioppi (SR,1-0) vs Kade Carlson (SO, 4-3)

Iowa won last year's dual 36-7 and a similar score seems very plausible for this year's dual -- even though only two Iowa wrestlers from that win are set to wrestle in this year's event (Siebrecht and Cassioppi). I'd give Army the edge at 125 and 174; maybe at 157 as well. 133 and 141 could be toss-ups as well. However, Iowa should be big favorites at 149, 165, 184, 197, and 285, with a strong possibility of bonus points at any (or all) of those weights.

My score prediction is 27-9. I'll give Army decision wins at 125, 157, and 174; I'll give Iowa decision wins at 133, 141, and 184, with major decision wins at 149, 165, and 197, plus a fall from Tony Pins to wrap things up.

Video coverage for this dual is only available via Flowrestling ($), but there is a free audio stream from the Hawkeye Radio Network (with Steven Grace on the call) via YouTube. I'll post results in the comments below as well.
