This entitled BS has got to stop. What the winter athletes got was totally fair. Period.
This decision is more than fair.
It was only a year ago that we watched Megan Gustafson have a season far better that any of us had ever seen. I remember thinking to myself "How awesome is this? What are the chances I'll ever be able so see another Iowa player have a legitimate chance at National Player of the Year awards?" And lo and behold, not even a year later and we have possibly the front-runner in the Wooden and Naismith awards. Damn.
What are the chances we'll ever see another Iowa player wear number 55? I'm guessing never.
This seems like a ridiculous over-reaction to me. Getting rid of the fans makes sense because of the crowds, but an arena with 50-60 players and coaches can't be any worse than going to the grocery store. No reason to not play the games.
Fuck this noise.
(Sorry about the rant, just pissed right now)
Now I just have to down-vote it.
Went to the game mainly to be there when Luka broke the scoring record. I wish they had more fanfare when he did it, but since he broke the record on the 2nd free throw, Iowa couldn't call timeout to stop the game and give him the game ball.
What a shit effort. Joe W looks like he doesn't even belong in the starting lineup the way he's playing right now.
And does anybody know how bad Pemsl's injury his? I saw him limp off the court and he never returned. Looked to be an ankle injury.
Cuckoo, cuckoo :-P
I spent a few years of my early career as a Systems Engineer for Honeywell. (A direct competitor to Collins Aerospace) If Amanda needs any career advice, I'm here for her! :-D
Agreed, I really am starting to like Hummel. No obvious bias, excellent commentary, just a good all-around announcer.
How about Blechh!-etology, given the mess that is the NCAA bubble this year?
I hope you're right. Most years I've had 20 wins as the magic number for them being a tourney lock, but given the brutality of the B1G this year I would drop that number to 19. 18 still makes me a bit nervous.
It's not a get-out-of-jail-free card. It's used to put some context on his career, which the dumb-ass Fran-hating fans always lack.
Are you getting enough oxygen?
Seriously, I now want this to be called Brak-etology.
(Runs of out room crying...)
Joey JoJo Junior Shabadoo?
This!!! In particular the 2103-14 the team has playing WAY above their talent level for the first part of the season. There was no way it was sustainable.
I couldn't have said it better myself. The conference is an absolute meat grinder this year, and every single team is bound to have a very rough stretch of games at some point. My hope has always been that they can get to 20 wins. That will get them comfortably in the tournament.
And this is the kind of team that is built to make some hay in the tourney.
Was this also a throwback game? It looks like they filmed this with a year 2000 vintage cell phone.
After the NW game was over I switched to FS1 to watch the end of the Wi-Md game. There was Dan Dakich, and my immediate thought was "Thank GOD we weren't on FS1 tonight"
The issue with scoring TDs was almost entirely due to the complete lack of any elite players at the skill positions. Without an RB who can bust long TD runs or pound it for 3 yards against a stacked box, and without any WRs who can get separation or consistently get behind the defense, you aren't going to score many TDs. Smith is the only skill player who you could even remotely call competent as a red zone threat, and he missed most of the season.
Frankly Weezy really shit the bed in this game. We NEED him to step up with CJ out, and he failed miserably. The other guys tried to step up once it was obvious Weezy didn't have it, but frankly everybody was pressing just a little too much.
And with the win the Haweyes now own the top scoring offense in the country, according to Kenpom!
The one thing this year has proven definitively is just how BAD Tyler Cook and Isiah Moss were on the defensive end of the court. The defense this year is light years ahead of last years' team.
What's even weirder, though, is that we haven't missed a beat offensively. I would have expected a drop-off there, but according to KenPom we're top 5 in the country on offense.
The Ferentz fanatics don't like to be reminded of his dark past.
This obviously sucks for Nunge and the team, but speculating that he's going to leave the program because of this is baseless and moronic.
