We’re all winners if Fran hits Dakich with a chair
Paging Joe Weiskamp...
I have tickets for the PSU game so I’m hoping he goes for 35 against MSU to set up breaking the record one game earlier than expected. That said, I’d settle for him for scoring less than his average in a blowout Iowa win to set up the Iowa-PSU game as a battle for sole possession of 2nd place.
It’s too bad there wasn’t a way to block that COC violation.
Went to the game and it was awesome. Sat a couple rows back from some annoying Nebraska fans. It was awesome to shut them up with that run to start the 2nd half. This team is good and fun and exciting to watch. Feel much better about the outlook for the rest of February after that performance
Ope, just realized I may have gotten my road games mixed up.
This is arguably Fran’s best coaching job and you want to fire him? Even with Bohannon this team was seen as being iffy about making the tourney. All Fran has done since JBo shut it down is coached this team to a Top 20 resume with one of the best offenses in the country helmed by a national player of the year candidate. @Yep, definitely don’t want that guy hanging around Iowa City [email protected]
1-2 is acceptable to me in any form, even if it includes a Nebraska loss because that will mean they beat either MSU or Illinois on the road. That said, I would be very concerned following a home loss to Nebraska. 2-1 and I’m very very happy.
I’d be fine with Iowa going 5-6 to end the season. I wouldn’t be so fine with Iowa losing 5 or 6 to end the year. It’s more than a perception thing. Good teams peak at the end of the regular season/start of the post-season. It feels like a number of Fran’s teams have peaked in December or January and then faded down the stretch. I also wouldn’t be THAT upset about them losing 5 of the last 6 if they still made the tournament because I in no way saw them as a tourney team this year.
I want to believe but I’m on a “I’ll believe it when I see it” basis with Fran’s teams in February.
That said, I am more optimistic about this team breaking the dreaded February Fade than any Iowa team in several years if everyone stays healthy because I think their success on offense is more sustainable than in years past with Garza playing the way that he is.
Listening to the radio call and they have no clue about the Davison tech. What happened?
I went to the Rutgers game at Carver last year. I still have nightmares about Ron Harper Jr.
Those defensive rankings would probably be even better if the defense weren’t asked to do so much too. How Phil Parker isn’t a hot name for a head coaching gig I have no idea because I think it’s pretty impressive that Iowa won 10 games this year with little more than a field goal kicker for offensive production.
The thing I will miss most about Stanley is those huge chunks of yards on QB sneaks. Can we really call them sneaks when everyone knows they’re coming, though? Maybe QB power would be more appropriate
They’re doing the Hokey Pokey in heaven tonight
I care about conference success far more than I care about bowl game success. It’s nice if he finishes with 3 bowl wins. It’s certainty preferable to not winning any of those games. But I don’t really much care about Iowa’s record in mid-tier bowl games other than I don’t want them to lose a bunch of them in a row like we did earlier this decade. I would be much more impressed by one of his teams winning the division once than I am by 3 mid-tier bowl victories.
Along those same lines: hokey pokey in the locker room if Iowa wins
My memory has blacked out everything from that game that happened after the opening kickoff
Fair enough. But I stand by my Fuck Nebraska.
I know it was a win vs a 5-6 team but I’m moving my feet and feeling united for 5 in a row. Matt Millen could not have been more openly rooting for Nebraska if he tried. Fuck Matt Millen and Fuck Nebraska
Good win not great just because we have to look at where Nebraska is as a program.
You have to look at where Nebraska is as a program
I’m not sure that Des King lost money by returning to school. He slipped in the draft because of his measurables not because of his play or an injury. Which just goes to show you how dumb those measurables can be sometimes. Same thing happened to Anthony Hitchens and he’s had a great pro career.
We all know Stanley’s greatest win. But what do you consider Stanley’s 2nd greatest win?
