I hoped the B1G players would unite and boycott, similar to the P12 players. So many changes need to happen, the least of which is paying the players. But for these boys to put their health in jeopardy so people can get rich? It's disgusting.

Hoya, this struck me as well. We know one. We can make an educated guess on the other (hey there, Little Ferentz!). But who's the third? And why has the administration done NOTHING to come down on Ferentz, Jr.??? That's what is most offensive to me. This ain't the first time his name has been alluded to, if not flat-out said out loud, and yet here we are. It's getting ridiculous.

This is where the problem lies. I want to be clear here: I COMPLETELY AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. But many people who don't wear masks don't wear them because they simply don't believe COVID is something to worry about. They honestly and legitimately believe that it isn't a pandemic that justifies the use of a mask. They honestly and legitimately believe that it is a left-wing, media-driven conspiracy to destroy the economy so that Trump loses in the next election.j

Now, I'm not making this political, and this topic in and of itself tiptoes around that line. But I know a whole bunch of people in Western Iowa who believe with all their hearts that what I typed above is true. So to RecksNFX, I agree. It is a matter of fact. There's just a whole portion of society who don't see it as a fact. And because of that, you'll never have masks be the norm unless it is mandated, which our glorious governor has said she'll never mandate.

HOLY FUCK I'M ANGRY. FERENTZ CLEARLY STATED THE SOCIAL MEDIA BAN WAS LIFTED. THAT ISN'T LIFTED. THAT'S PATHETIC. THIS ISN'T PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL, THESE ARE KIDS. THEY DESERVE THE ABILITY TO SAY STUPID THINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. PERIOD. ONE REVIEWED TWEET PER MONTH IS ANOTHER WAY OF IMPOSING YOUR WILL ON A YOUNG PERSON. DOWNVOTE IF YOU NEED TO, BUT THIS IS INFURIATING.

Whether college sports should return, or any sport for that matter, will still fall along the same political divide that COVID-19 fell upon. Yes, we all want sports to return. Some of us believe it will cause another huge surge in cases, leading to a surge in deaths. Others of us believe that if we haven't seen it already, we won't see it when things continue to reopen. Here is not the place to have that debate. Here is the place to rejoice in Hawk Nation being safe and healthy, and hopefully bringing all of us back to a place of normalcy. And a prayer (even if you don't agree with it) that we remain safe and healthy during this pandemic. Welcome back, Hawks; we've missed you!

This is incredible. Kudos to the athletes. Kudos to the coaches for helping where they could. It's a great day [year] to be a Hawkeye!!

This.

I've been a frequent (internal) critic of Fran's sub patterns, but I noticed it this past year: Fran rides his horses and the other guys tend to know their roles. The only player over the last few years who hasn't accepted that role is seemingly Pemsl. Cordel felt he deserved more, but the team didn't have the room for it. I, personally, would have played him more, but I'm not the coach. Everybody else takes their spot and accepts it. I'm not worried about minutes, because there is a season beyond next that employs everybody else. That's when they get theirs.

Holy crap. Three lights-out shooters surrounding one of the most dominant big man in the country. It's going to be raining 3's AND layups. I don't see how this offense gets stopped. And off the bench? Completely changes the direction of the team; how do you prepare for that? Wow, this next season could be incredibly special. Wow.

That's great! I also ended up playing against a guy who was REALLY good. After the game, I inquired if he had played anywhere after high school (he was clearly a few years older than me). He chuckled and said yeah, I started four years at Yale...then played in Europe for a few years. He was our ringer for intramural that year. We did well.

I used to play pick-up basketball at the field house quite a bit when I was in college. That's how I met so many of the football and basketball players. In any event, one day I walked into a game, and Lindsey Meder was on the other team. For those that don't know, she got drafted by the WNBA that year in the first round. Nobody else on the court knew who she was. I did. Anywho, being the new guy, my team volunteered me to guard "the girl." I knew what was about to happen, but I didn't say anything. She proceeded to drop five bombs in my eye; I'm not tall, I'm not overly athletic, but I do know how to play the game, how to play defense, etc. Each one of her shots, my hand was in her face. And she drained every single one of them. After that first game, one of my teammates told me we'd switch. He clearly thought I wasn't doing a good job. She proceeded to drop four out of five bombs on his ass. I don't think anybody still knew who she was. But I did. Moral of the story, she's in my top three picks for guys and gals.

I picked Baer over Luka. Look, Luka will go down as one of the best players the Hawkeyes have ever had. Love the kid to death. But in this matchup? Baer has the length, quickness, and overall skill. I think he wins it. This isn't a contest for who the best player is, or who the best scorer is. It's one-on-one. This is a lousy matchup for Luka.

This. Gesell is criminally underrated (though I understand why), and CJ has legit potential to be a superstar. Both drew a crap draw in this bracket; both should advance based on their abilities, but they lose to the few guys they match up against poorly.

I was friends with Recker's roommate my first Sophomore year. Went to his apartment a few times. Guy was truly a dick. Will never show him any respect. Please don't down-vote me for this, I just had to vent. It doesn't help that I have a tremendous amount of respect for what Kriener was able to do this past season. I know Recker would beat him - hell, probably destroy him - but I just can't vote for the guy.

Duez is another one of my all-time favorites. I used to run with him and some other guys at the Fieldhouse quite a bit. So much so that, even 5 years after I left Iowa City, he'd give me a smile and nod if we ran into each other on the streets. Truly a good guy. That said, CJ wins. He's too dynamic. I've never been a Kelly fan, even back in the day. He was always a ball hog, shot too much, and took too much responsibility on his shoulders, without the talent to back it up. That's my opinion. I see Clemens being able to shut him down defensively.
