I hoped the B1G players would unite and boycott, similar to the P12 players. So many changes need to happen, the least of which is paying the players. But for these boys to put their health in jeopardy so people can get rich? It's disgusting.
Hoya, this struck me as well. We know one. We can make an educated guess on the other (hey there, Little Ferentz!). But who's the third? And why has the administration done NOTHING to come down on Ferentz, Jr.??? That's what is most offensive to me. This ain't the first time his name has been alluded to, if not flat-out said out loud, and yet here we are. It's getting ridiculous.
This is where the problem lies. I want to be clear here: I COMPLETELY AND WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE WITH WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. But many people who don't wear masks don't wear them because they simply don't believe COVID is something to worry about. They honestly and legitimately believe that it isn't a pandemic that justifies the use of a mask. They honestly and legitimately believe that it is a left-wing, media-driven conspiracy to destroy the economy so that Trump loses in the next election.j
Now, I'm not making this political, and this topic in and of itself tiptoes around that line. But I know a whole bunch of people in Western Iowa who believe with all their hearts that what I typed above is true. So to RecksNFX, I agree. It is a matter of fact. There's just a whole portion of society who don't see it as a fact. And because of that, you'll never have masks be the norm unless it is mandated, which our glorious governor has said she'll never mandate.
(Referring to HoyaGoon above): This.
"tacit validation" - about one of the best used examples of that phrase in these times.
SHIT MY BAD. Had to do all CAPS just to get my point across. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I will gladly accept it. Thanks for the clarification.
HOLY FUCK I'M ANGRY. FERENTZ CLEARLY STATED THE SOCIAL MEDIA BAN WAS LIFTED. THAT ISN'T LIFTED. THAT'S PATHETIC. THIS ISN'T PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL, THESE ARE KIDS. THEY DESERVE THE ABILITY TO SAY STUPID THINGS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. PERIOD. ONE REVIEWED TWEET PER MONTH IS ANOTHER WAY OF IMPOSING YOUR WILL ON A YOUNG PERSON. DOWNVOTE IF YOU NEED TO, BUT THIS IS INFURIATING.
Whether college sports should return, or any sport for that matter, will still fall along the same political divide that COVID-19 fell upon. Yes, we all want sports to return. Some of us believe it will cause another huge surge in cases, leading to a surge in deaths. Others of us believe that if we haven't seen it already, we won't see it when things continue to reopen. Here is not the place to have that debate. Here is the place to rejoice in Hawk Nation being safe and healthy, and hopefully bringing all of us back to a place of normalcy. And a prayer (even if you don't agree with it) that we remain safe and healthy during this pandemic. Welcome back, Hawks; we've missed you!
This is incredible. Kudos to the athletes. Kudos to the coaches for helping where they could. It's a great day [year] to be a Hawkeye!!
I've been a frequent (internal) critic of Fran's sub patterns, but I noticed it this past year: Fran rides his horses and the other guys tend to know their roles. The only player over the last few years who hasn't accepted that role is seemingly Pemsl. Cordel felt he deserved more, but the team didn't have the room for it. I, personally, would have played him more, but I'm not the coach. Everybody else takes their spot and accepts it. I'm not worried about minutes, because there is a season beyond next that employs everybody else. That's when they get theirs.
Holy crap. Three lights-out shooters surrounding one of the most dominant big man in the country. It's going to be raining 3's AND layups. I don't see how this offense gets stopped. And off the bench? Completely changes the direction of the team; how do you prepare for that? Wow, this next season could be incredibly special. Wow.
That's great! I also ended up playing against a guy who was REALLY good. After the game, I inquired if he had played anywhere after high school (he was clearly a few years older than me). He chuckled and said yeah, I started four years at Yale...then played in Europe for a few years. He was our ringer for intramural that year. We did well.
I missed this somewhere, but why is Bollers not even considering Iowa? I saw his top 6, I think, and the Hawks weren't listed. Did we drop the ball? Did we stop going after him? What happened?
Unless you're Luka Garza playing Nicholas Baer. Then if you suggest this, you're an idiot.
Reggie kicks a FG to win. 3-0 after 4 hours of rock-fighting.
I was friends with Recker's roommate my first Sophomore year. Went to his apartment a few times. Guy was truly a dick. Will never show him any respect. Please don't down-vote me for this, I just had to vent. It doesn't help that I have a tremendous amount of respect for what Kriener was able to do this past season. I know Recker would beat him - hell, probably destroy him - but I just can't vote for the guy.
