I agree Dakish is the most hyperbolic announcer in the universe
It really sucks that I have my hopes up for a win tonight. I will be all dressed up in my sexy playboy robe with soft music on the 8 track and a bottle of Courvoisier but will she come or will she leave me yearning. Oh Iowa Basketball you fickle saucy temptress I am putty in your silky firm grasp; don't be cruel.
Desanto needs to start acting like he has beaten a top guy in his career. Lee destroys his top 5 opponents and yawns; Desanto acts like he just invented sliced bread
i remember the game when a couple hundred illinois fans entered Carver in Iowa attire then showed there illinois colors. we can not beat these douchbags bad enough for me to be happy. fuck them all in the eye
I am predicting an Iowa TE reload next season. It may take a few games but watch out
I expect that Chambers to be pushing his players to succeed tonight.
Can any of the NFL draft experts on GIA shed light on the draft prospects for all of the Iowa kids jumping early? What rounds are they projected to go? Also, can anyone explain the new (recent) rookie compensation ceilings in the NFL? Do they just apply to salary or are signing bonus and other perks capped? I am not a big pro sports fan (if Iowa cant play them, what do I care)
I suspect that his bonus arrangement provides for higher bonuses for Jan 1 games vs pre-new year bowls. I suspect winning nets a higher bonus than losing. Cant blame a guy for negotiating a sweet contract
What we really need is a school to flat out say no.
This is Iowa, not Notre Dame. Just say no may have worked for Nancy Regan but it would like be the death knell for Iowa's bread and butter - invitations to mid-level bowl a level or two above what we deserve based on season success. I guess that GIA can piss about how the January 1 bowl game that Iowa jumped 2-3 other B10 teams just sucks but to me it is reminiscent of Tom Davis complaints that we go to the NCAA Tourney every year but rarely get past the second round (that worked out really good). I think the exposure is well worth it; not to mention our upset Outback win over a top 20 team lifted Iowa into the final top 25 which is worth something. Hell Im rambling.
But why give the shrimp to landlocked Iowa - the onion farmers of the world - rather than Mississipi - home to Bubba Gump and semi toxic gulf shrimp industry? Yet they pay the guy $1M to make that choice?
Those Texas Roadhouse rolls are my crack. I would just sit and eat rolls for my meal if the establishment and my cardiologist would allow it.
I think you missed the big picture fail of this outback bowl victory... no free bloomin onion; we are stuck with a crappy coconut shrimp.
That said, I prefer watching the game from living room couch because the travelability to the fridge and the toilet are much better.
Joey Buckets sounds like someone who hangs out at the Badda Bing with Big Pussey.
“invitational to lose to either Bama or Clemson”.
From the mouths of sports experts comes gems like this. The current model has virtually granted Clemson and Alabama permanent spots in the play-off using subjective criteria and computer models that open up scoring with those two at the top because that is where they were last year. Let them prove their worth against the other conference champs.
On other things, I kind of like Crispin as a color guy. He reminds me of Mark Ironsides' announcing style; let the players play and dont penalize a guy for playing aggressive basketball. He got a little cilynder silly last night but he was explaining correctly the rules of basketball. Personally I think Garza elbowed the jNW guy to remove his tongue from Garza's mouth. I have dreamed Dipshit's mom would hug me that close but its not appropriate on the basketball court
I would like to see the entire Big10 at zero percent odds. It is time to let the NCAA know that they can rename the current farce "national championship" to the "Best of the SEC & ACC" then let the other power five conferences continue with historic bowl arrangements. Until the NCAA opens this to all major conference champions then who gives a shit. No insult intended to the GIA moderators but it seems to me the only people pole stroking over the current subjective selection process are the sports pundits who like to think they can judge superior programs over on the field results. I'm done with my new year resolution rant for 2019, please feel free to berate me if you want but know I will be silently judging you as a elitist snob and sports pundit pole stroker. :)
that kind of limits the GIA conversation list. I play with the numbers and sometimes I play with myself but I am not a nerd, I am a proud dweeb and dork.
Please explain how ISU sits at 35 on this NET rank based on their play this season. They have lost to the only two teams below 80 on Kenpom with wins over teams with a group average around 180 Kenpom. Their SOS is among the lowest of power 5 teams. The only explanation is that these metrics factor in last season's performance to some extent.
As someone said in an earlier thread, JoBo has been a consistent 40+% three point shooter over the past two seasons. He is in a cold spell but just basic regression to the mean says the pendulum will swing back to 40+% again.
But most of all, I'm simply flummoxed.
I am not familiar with The Flummox, is that like a cross between the Kentucky Klondike Bar and an Alabama Hot Pocket? We are talking Iowa State so its probably closer to the Cleveland Accordion.
Go Hawks and surprise us with an Oregon repeat.
Kathleen Doyle's return should help a lot and add a good outside threat that Iowa has been missing
when is the winner announced
Fant was good but this past season he was the second best TE on the team. IMO he was not the difference maker that Clark and Cook were. I wish him well but am pretty certain we will miss Epeneza and Nelson more when they graduate.
Barta is the Cersei Lannister of athletic directors.....Shame, Shame, Shame
If you are comparing Barta with Khaleesi then good day sir...I said good day sir.
