It's not just the hoops recruiting trail where Iowa has been busy landing future Hawkeyes -- they've been doing work on the football front as well.

Lauck is listed at 6'6" and 287 lbs and is rated a 4* prospect by Rivals and 247 Sports. He's a member of the Rivals250 class, and a top OL prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. As expected with recruiting plaudits like that, Lauck had a bevy of offers -- from the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Louisville, Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, West Virginia, and several more mid-major programs as well. So Iowa beat out some pretty strong suitors to earn a commitment from Lauck.

Iowa hosted a big recruiting weekend last weekend with a slew of visitors -- including Lauck. He's the first player from that weekend to commit to Iowa (though probably not the last). In comments with 247 Sports, Lauck noted the relationship he formed with Iowa offensive line coach George Barnett during the recruitment process as a key reason in choosing Iowa. Another reason? Their history and reputation developing offensive linemen.

“I’ve always been a fan of watching Iowa play," Lauck said previously of Iowa. "It’s something about their physicality and being tough guys. The consistency that Iowa, the program has, is really good for recruiting these days. You don’t know what’s real and what’s not sometimes in recruiting, but with Iowa, you know what you’re getting is real.”

Welcome to Iowa City, Trevor.

EDIT: Right after I finished writing this, Iowa landed an even bigger OL recruit... the 2023 recruiting class is really looking good on the BEEF front.
